MitonOptimal Asset Management in South Africa was founded in 2004 and is the result of the merger of the previous Eagle Asset Management and MitonOptimal South Africa. It is a private company owned by its Management and Directors. As an owner managed Multi Asset Management business, we believe the objectives and priorities of clients, staff and shareholders are much more closely aligned in a partnership model.
MitonOptimal is a performance focused investment management team that strives to achieve strength through diversity in all its portfolios and business model.
We do one thing and one thing only - Multi Asset Management. We do not have the conflicts of interest of much larger institutions, yet we have achieved the critical mass of funds under management to ensure the economies of scale required in this industry.
Our investment philosophy is unashamedly simple, "diversification through unconstrained global asset allocation within an absolute mindset". All forms of strategic and tactical asset allocation are vital to the success of any Multi Asset Management portfolio and our process is well documented.
We have a range of collective investment schemes (unit trusts) and segregated mandates that cater for a range of discerning private clients, independent financial advisers, family offices and institutional clients around South Africa.

MitonOptimal Weekly Comment - How do you... :
SA Financial Advisors are often required to advise global ‘perpetual travelers’ who only spend 4 to 6 months of every year in South Africa. These investors often demand the ‘perfect miracle’ with their assets in South Africa: ’invest my money in Rands, but when the Rand weakens, switch it into a hard currency…but do not forget to grow my assets simultaneously!’ It’s a tough job - many SA Advisors and investors who invested offshore during the past 10 years have experienced rand strength since 2003 and have had poor returns in Rands and US$ terms due to market behavior over this period. This is not an easy mandate to meet!
