Gavin Betty

Chairman of Investment Committee

Gavin has over 25 years’ experience in financial services. He was previously MD of Peregrine Securities where he chaired the Board and had oversight of the Operations, Risk, Compliance and Remuneration Committee’s. He also served on the JSE Advisory Committee in Derivative and FX products. As Chair of the Investment Committee, Gavin sits in on the weekly meetings, providing direction and oversight.

Roeloff Horne

Chief Investment Officer

Roeloff has been managing model portfolios and funds since 1998. He founded Eagle Asset Management and Bond Street Financial Services which became part of MitonOptimal in 2010 and 2014 respectively. As Chief Investment Officer, Roeloff serves on the Board of MitonOptimal Holdings (Pty) Limited and is responsible for managing the firm’s suite of Collective Investment Schemes, as well as overseeing the management of our model portfolios.

Oscar de Waal

Head of Due Diligence and Research Analyst

Oscar joined the finance industry in 2000. He joined MitonOptimal in 2010 and is part of the Investment Committee. Oscar is responsible for performing regular and thorough due diligence reports on funds, managers and organisations to aid the team in their portfolio construction.

Sarah Cowan

Head of Marketing & Strategic Implementation

Sarah joined MitonOptimal in 2018 and is responsible for developing and implementing the company’s marketing strategy, ensuring alignment with core business functions, and supporting day-to-day operations. She began her career in the finance industry in 2006, working in marketing roles in the UK for some of the industry’s most respected brands.

George Dell

Executive Director

George joined the financial services industry in 1984 and has held various senior client facing roles at some of SA’s most respected financial companies. As Executive Director, George sits on the MitonOptimal Holdings (Pty) Limited Board and has responsibility for the strategic direction of the business, business development, client relationships and strategic partnerships. George currently serves as chair of the FIA’s Discretionary Investment Management Executive Committee and is also a Director of the FIA.

Ingrid Farmer

Head of Risk & Compliance

Ingrid has worked in the Financial Services industry since 1987 holding a variety of advisory and compliance roles. She joined MitonOptimal in 2023 and, as Head of Risk & Compliance, is responsible for overseeing and managing all aspects of risk and regulatory compliance within the firm. Ingrid ensures the business operates within the required legal and regluatory framework, maintains a strong risk culture and upholds the integrity of the firm’s operations and client relationships.

Jolandi Slabbert

Chief Operating Officer

Jolandi joined MitonOptimal in 2011 and currently serves as Chief Operating Officer. She sits on the Board of MitonOptimal Holdings (Pty) Limited and is responsible for guiding the strategic direction of the business, overseeing its operational functions, and driving the integration of technology across the organisation. Since entering the financial services industry in 2007, Jolandi has held a variety of roles spanning Human Resources, Operations, and Compliance.
